Why we started
We strongly believe children learn through play. Play is crucial in children’s development. It helps to build self-worth by giving a child a sense of his or her own abilities, and to feel good about themselves.
The Playlab Shop started with two mothers who believe in the benefits of play in children’s learning and development in their early childhood years. In order for children to have meaningful play, we did our research and came across open-ended toys — a toy with no definitive ending point, providing children endless fun and limitless imagination.
Everything we stock is chosen for that: high quality, sustainable, and built to be played with a hundred different ways.

Inclusive play
Play shouldn’t have a waiting list.
On our journey of building up The Playlab Shop, we found that there is very limited choice of educational toys for special needs children in Malaysia. Children with physical and intellectual limitations should have the chance to play, smile and laugh just as any other child.
What we look for
Open-ended — no single right way to play with it.
High quality — built to survive being played with properly.
Sustainable — materials we are happy to hand on.
Developmental — it grows something real.
We also run a festival
Kiddie CEO Halloween Takeover
Malaysia’s first Pretend Play Festival, now in its second year at The Campus, Ampang — where children run the booth instead of walking past it.
